Comparison

Primodojo vs Gymdesk

Both will run a martial arts gym. The difference comes down to two things: what you pay as the gym grows, and which BJJ-specific jobs the software actually does. Primodojo costs a quarter to a third as much depending on your size, and it ships features Gymdesk owners have been asking for, in some cases for years. Every figure below is from Gymdesk's own pricing page in July 2026.

What a year actually costs

Gymdesk prices by member count; every plan has every feature. So does Primodojo. Their rates below are the ones published on their own pricing page in July 2026, month to month. Our price stops at $49 and stays there, which is the whole difference: their bill grows every time your gym does.

201 to 400 membersLarge, $200/mo$2,400Growth, $49/mo$588 ($490 paid yearly)

Gymdesk runs a two-months-free signup promo from time to time. Take it and a 300-member gym still pays $2,000 in year one against our $490, then the full $2,400 every year after. Card processing is a wash either way: both run about 2.8 to 2.9% + 30¢ per charge, and neither of us marks up the processor. Neither of us takes a cut of your dues, which is more than several cheaper-looking options can say.

The gaps that matter on the mat

Confirmed, current gaps, not a padded checklist. Anything Gymdesk covers as well as we do is left off rather than spun into a row.

From Gymdesk's own recent reviews

"The quality of customer service has declined so fast, even in the short time we've been clients."

Review-site feedback from a ~350-member martial arts school that switched to Gymdesk in January 2025

"The only frustrations consistently encountered are from parents desiring to sign up more than one student member at a time."

Review-site feedback on family enrollment

"Running custom reports is not really a function, despite being told you can filter lists."

Review-site feedback on reporting

Quoted as written, not trimmed to sound worse. These are recent and specific, and they land on the exact areas Primodojo was built around.

The trade-off, stated plainly

Primodojo is newer and founder-run. You will occasionally hit a rough edge a ten-year-old product has already sanded down. You will also get answers from the person who wrote the code, usually the same day. If that trade reads as a win for a gym your size, the trial takes two minutes and doesn't ask for a card.
