Comparison
Mindbody is built for class-based fitness businesses: yoga, pilates, spas, studios. Martial arts is not what it was designed for, and that shows up in two places. There is no concept of a belt anywhere in the product, and as of July 2026 it will not tell you what it costs until you talk to someone.
Everything in the Mindbody column comes from their own pricing page in July 2026. There are three tiers, and every one of them is a Let's talk button.
| Question | Mindbody | Primodojo |
|---|---|---|
| What does it cost? | Not published. The only figure on the page is "starting at €99 Euro/month per location" | $29 or $49 a month, printed on the pricing page |
| Priced per what? | Per location. Adding a second gym adds another subscription | Per academy, flat, unlimited staff accounts |
| Can I try it without a call? | No. Every plan routes to a sales conversation | 30 days, no card, no call |
| Are all features included? | No. Email and SMS marketing and lead management are Ultimate only; the branded app is an add-on | Everything, on both plans |
| Am I in a contract? | "It depends on your plan and billing terms, including any promotions you signed up for" | Month to month. Cancel in the dashboard |
| What else gets charged? | Transaction fees on payments, texts, certain integrations, and when a client discovers you in their app | Card processing at cost, 2.9% + 30¢. No markup, no cut of your dues |
That last row is the one that catches martial arts schools out. Their consumer app is a source of walk-up traffic and also a fee that fires when someone finds you through it. Whether that trade works depends on whether your academy grows on discovery traffic or, as most do, on referrals and trial classes.
Mindbody's own tier comparison lists no rank, belt, or curriculum feature anywhere. This is the gap, and it is structural rather than an oversight: the product is built for class-based fitness businesses.
| Feature | Primodojo | Mindbody |
|---|---|---|
| Belts and rank | Ranks, stripes, time in grade, and a promotion-readiness view of who is due | Nothing sport-specific. Progress is a booking history |
| Curriculum | Technique library mapped to the belts that require it | Not offered |
| Family sign-up | One flow enrolls a parent and all their kids | Not named on their site |
| Waivers and parental consent | Digital waivers, guardian signatures, and under-13 consent tracked per student | Not named on their pricing page |
| Coach payroll | Per-class pay rates and retroactive session credits, exportable | Not named on their pricing page |
| Consumer marketplace | None. You bring your own students | A listing in their consumer app, with a fee when a client finds you through it |
If you run a multi-location studio where classes are the product and discovery traffic drives enrollment, Mindbody is built for that and worth the sales call. If you run a martial arts academy, you would be paying per location for a platform with no concept of a belt, and tracking promotions in a spreadsheet next to it. Ours costs $29 to start, shows you the price up front, and the trial doesn't ask for a card.
